HOUSTON, TX – In a dramatic incident on Houston’s east side, two men disguised as police officers attempted a violent home invasion late Monday night, resulting in their deaths after a gunfire exchange with the homeowners.
Residents in the 4800 block of Bellnol were startled by gunshots around 11 p.m. Police reported that the suspects, wearing masks, bulletproof vests, and fake badges, tried to force entry into a home. The homeowners, however, responded with gunfire, striking both intruders.
Neighbors, although reluctant to appear on camera due to safety concerns, confirmed hearing the rapid succession of shots. “It happens too often,” one resident said, reflecting the community’s anxiety over frequent violence.
Police were alerted to the scene shortly after the incident, blocking access to the area as they conducted their investigation. Officers attempted CPR on the suspects, but both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are now working to identify the deceased and understand their motives for targeting this specific home. The police presence remains strong as they continue to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses.
The unsettling event has left the neighborhood on edge, with many residents expressing fear over the increasing violence. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation.
The homeowners involved in the shooting have not been charged, as the case appears to be one of self-defense, according to initial police reports.
