SURPRISE, AZ – A chilling plot hatched by a group of elementary school girls to kill a fellow student was thwarted by quick-thinking peers and school officials, police in Surprise, Arizona, reported. The alleged plan, devised by 10- and 11-year-olds, aimed to target a boy accused of cheating on one of the girls.
According to authorities, four fifth-grade students at Legacy Traditional School’s West Surprise campus intended to lure the boy to an outdoor bathroom where they planned to stab him. Each girl had a specific role, including bringing the knife, writing a forged suicide note, and acting as a lookout while the attack was carried out. Gloves were to be worn to avoid leaving fingerprints.
The plot unraveled on October 1 when students who overheard the plan reported it to school administrators. The school’s resource officer, in collaboration with staff, launched an investigation the following day. The girls’ backpacks were searched, and they were questioned with their parents present.
The investigation led to the arrest of all four students on misdemeanor charges of threatening and disorderly conduct. While three of the girls expressed remorse during questioning, the fourth reportedly showed a disturbing lack of concern, smiling and laughing as she made excuses.
This incident has raised questions about the influences and pressures facing young students today. Experts suggest increased vigilance and communication between parents, teachers, and students to prevent such situations.
Legacy Traditional School has since implemented additional safety measures and counseling services to support students and ensure a secure learning environment. The school emphasized the importance of reporting suspicious activities and fostering an atmosphere of trust.
Parents and community members have expressed shock and disbelief at the sophistication of the plot, prompting discussions on how to address and prevent such behavior in young children.
