MIAMI, FL – A quiet neighborhood in southwest Miami-Dade was shaken on Sunday when police discovered four people dead inside a home in what authorities suspect was a murder-suicide. The tragic incident unfolded on Southwest 147th Court in Kendale Lakes, leaving residents and family members in shock.
Upon arrival, Miami-Dade Police found the victims—two men and two women—spread across three different rooms in the house. A family member identified the deceased as his 85-year-old stepmother, her ex-husband, her son, and the son’s wife. The stepson, who had been trying to reach his stepmother for several days without success, made the grim discovery himself when he decided to check on her.
Authorities believe that one of the men, who was over 60, shot and killed the other three individuals before turning the gun on himself. Two of the victims were over 80 years old, and one was a hospice patient, adding another layer of tragedy to the already heartbreaking situation.
A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that healthcare workers had raised concerns about the emotional state of the son in the days leading up to the incident. The workers, who visited the home daily, were unable to make contact on Thursday and Friday, prompting them to call 911. However, police found no immediate cause to force entry at that time.
Detective Angel Rodriguez of the Miami-Dade Police Department urged the community to seek help if they find themselves in potentially dangerous situations. “If you’re in a situation where your environment is becoming dangerous, please call us. Call 911,” Rodriguez said.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the events that led to this tragic outcome. The community remains on edge, grappling with the shock and sorrow of losing four of their neighbors in such a violent manner.
