ARLINGTON, TX – A wave of violence has gripped Arlington and nearby cities, leaving a trail of chaos and devastation. Authorities have apprehended four suspects, including three young men and a juvenile, who are now facing charges of capital murder and a series of other crimes.
The suspects, identified as 17-year-old Angel Barajas, 20-year-old Humberto Barajas, 17-year-old Tobias Jones, and an unnamed juvenile, are accused of orchestrating a violent crime spree. Their charges include capital murder, aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, animal cruelty, and evading arrest, according to Arlington police.
The spree began late on a Saturday night in Dallas, where the group allegedly stole a Honda Civic. Their actions quickly escalated, leading to a deadly encounter in Arlington. Around 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, police responded to a scene on Little Road where 34-year-old Juan Sosa was fatally shot during an attempted carjacking. A passenger in the vehicle managed to escape unharmed.
Earlier that night, the suspects were reportedly involved in a separate incident at an apartment complex on Deer Creek Drive in South Arlington. They allegedly fired shots into an apartment, injuring a woman and hitting a family pet. The suspects were said to be searching for someone not residing at that address.
The violence didn’t end there. The suspects continued their rampage, eventually making their way to Grand Prairie, where they attempted another carjacking and succeeded in stealing a Lincoln Town Car. Surveillance footage played a crucial role in helping police connect the dots between the various crime scenes across the cities.
The suspects’ violent escapades came to an end after they crashed the stolen Honda Civic. Police were able to apprehend all four individuals shortly after the crash. Authorities noted the brazen nature of their crimes, highlighting how the suspects repeatedly brandished firearms during their spree.
Police are relieved to have the suspects in custody, bringing some measure of relief to the communities affected by the weekend of terror. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the full extent of the suspects’ activities.
The adult suspects remain in custody, with bonds set at significant amounts, reflecting the severity of their alleged crimes. The juvenile’s legal proceedings are being handled separately, given their age.
