Foul play suspected in fire that destroyed multiple homes

MORGAN COUNTY, IN – Investigators in Morgan County are working tirelessly to determine the cause of an early morning explosion and fire that left four houses damaged. Authorities are considering the possibility of foul play.

A doorbell camera captured footage moments before the explosion, showing what appears to be someone throwing an object that subsequently ignites. Lisa Harmon, one of the affected residents, shared that her family was camping when they received a distressing call from a neighbor around 4 a.m. on Sunday.

Lisa’s husband, Freddy Harmon, had recently been released from the hospital and was initially reluctant to go on the camping trip. Their decision to leave may have been life-saving, as the explosion destroyed their bedroom, where they would have been sleeping.

The Harmons returned to find their home, along with a neighbor’s, completely destroyed. As they search for their missing cat, they express gratitude for the community’s support. A neighbor’s quick actions helped ensure no one was harmed, as he alerted other residents and confirmed the Harmons were not home.

Authorities are urging the public to provide any additional video or information that might aid the investigation. The Harmons remain hopeful that officials will uncover the fire’s origin.

Despite losing their belongings, the family is thankful for their safety. “We haven’t done anything to anyone, and we don’t understand why this happened,” Lisa Harmon said.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is assisting local investigators, who believe this was an isolated incident.
