ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday in St. Petersburg when a man was fatally shot while driving, leading to a car crash with an 18-month-old child in the back seat. Authorities are actively searching for the suspect responsible for this violent act.
The victim, identified as 21-year-old Tyrone Howard, was traveling west on Emerson Avenue South when he was shot. His vehicle subsequently collided with a parked car near the intersection of Emerson and 31st Street South. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Howard succumbed to his injuries.
Remarkably, the toddler in the back seat emerged unharmed and is now safely with family members. Police have not disclosed the child’s relationship to Howard.
The shooting and subsequent crash left several blocks cordoned off with yellow police tape as investigators worked to piece together the sequence of events. The crash occurred outside Robco Transmission and Auto, which was closed at the time, and its cameras did not capture the incident.
