Family grieves mother killed by wrong-way drunk driver

FORT WORTH, TX – A local community is mourning the loss of Brittany Elliott, who was tragically killed in a head-on collision caused by a suspected drunk driver. The accident occurred earlier this month, just minutes from the Elliott family’s home, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew her.

Spencer Elliott, a Keller ISD coach, and two of his children were also injured in the crash. He was recently released from the hospital with significant injuries, including kidney lacerations and fractures to his face and arms. His daughter, Ali, 12, sustained a broken arm.

The family was returning from a late-night baseball tournament on September 14 when their vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver on Boat Club Road. Brittany, who was driving, was killed instantly. The driver of the other vehicle remains hospitalized and has not been formally charged.

Brittany Elliott was a devoted mother of three and served as the Director of Nursing for JP Correctional Health at the Tarrant County Jail. Her husband described her as his biggest supporter and a beloved figure in the community.

Support has poured in from across Tarrant County, particularly from the sports community. Spencer Elliott expressed the heartbreak of losing his best friend and the challenges of raising their children without her.

Their eldest son, Cooper, 17, now faces new responsibilities at home. The family is adjusting to life without Brittany, engaging in difficult conversations about their future.

Spencer Elliott spoke about the complex emotions they are grappling with, including anger and forgiveness. He emphasized the importance of taking life one day at a time as they heal.

Fort Worth Police continue to investigate the crash, withholding the suspect’s identity until formal charges are filed. The community remains on edge, seeking justice for Brittany Elliott.
