Eight people shot in gas station gun battle in California

Monday evening, a shooting occurred at a gas station in Oakland, California, leaving one person dead and seven others injured, according to police.

At around 6 p.m., Oakland Police Department’s Kim Armstead informed the public during a news conference that an incident had happened at a gas station located at the intersection of Seminary Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard.

When police arrived at the scene in response to a ShotSpotter notification, they did not find any injured persons, but they did discover multiple shell casings.

Armstead reported that soon after, the communications division was told of multiple people with gunshot wounds that had gone to local hospitals without assistance.

Relatives of Mario Navarro, an 18-year-old, confirmed his identity to KTVU after he had been pronounced dead at Highland Hospital.

It is still unknown as to what caused the shooting to occur. The police have not disclosed any information yet regarding any potential arrests or suspects.

The seven people who were injured in the shooting are currently in a stable state, according to the reports. The investigators suspect that the shooting was carried out by more than one person, and the shots were likely fired from across the street.

Gathering evidence from two automobiles which may have been used to take the gunshot victims to the medical center was done.

Police stated that the incident is still being looked into.
