Drunk driver crashes through house in California

Early Sunday morning, a resident in Sacramento County got an unexpected wake-up call when a vehicle crashed into their home.

The incident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. along Spengler Drive. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, deputies had attempted to pull the driver over for a suspected DUI. Fortunately, neither the driver nor anyone inside the home were hurt.

Photos released by the sheriff’s office show that the vehicle went completely inside the home through what appears to be the kitchen, causing major damage in its path.

The driver was able to escape the scene, but was later apprehended by authorities. Investigators said the driver faces charges related to, at least, the pursuit.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2021, 13,384 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for 31% of all traffic-related deaths in the United States. This is a stark reminder of the importance of making responsible decisions when it comes to drinking and driving.
