FREMONT, CA – A tragic night unfolded in Fremont as gunfire erupted outside a bustling banquet hall, leaving two people dead and a community in shock. The incident occurred at the Royal Palace Banquet Hall, where approximately 100 guests were gathered for a celebration.
Witnesses reported chaos as a vehicle approached the parking lot and unleashed a volley of bullets, fatally striking two individuals. Emergency services arrived swiftly, but despite efforts to administer CPR, both victims succumbed to their injuries.
The suspect fled the scene, prompting a manhunt by local authorities. Investigators are diligently reviewing surveillance footage and conducting interviews with witnesses to piece together the events of the night. As of now, the identities of the victims remain undisclosed.
Residents of the area, including those who frequent nearby businesses, expressed disbelief at the violence in their typically peaceful neighborhood. Henry Chan, co-owner of a nearby acupuncture clinic, noted the disruption to his business as police conducted their investigation. “It’s shocking to see something like this happen here,” he remarked.
The Royal Palace Banquet Hall, previously the site of a violent altercation in 2017, remains closed following the shooting. On that occasion, a brawl left one man in a coma, underscoring a history of unrest at the venue.
While police have yet to confirm the nature of the event taking place during the shooting, several business owners indicated it was a wedding celebration. The community is left grappling with the aftermath as the search for the perpetrator continues.
This incident marks the third and fourth homicides in Fremont this year, raising concerns about safety in the area. The local police department is urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
