LAKE WORTH, FL – Authorities in Palm Beach County have arrested a man in connection with the death of a woman found outside a condominium complex. Richard Sythe, 53, was taken into custody on Friday evening and charged with murder.
The body of the victim, identified as Sharoni, was discovered early in the morning outside Lucerne Green’s complex. Residents awoke to a scene filled with police activity, a stark contrast to the usually quiet neighborhood.
One neighbor recounted the unsettling atmosphere, expressing shock and fear at the unexpected presence of law enforcement. “I had no idea what was happening,” the neighbor said, noting how the tranquility of their morning walk was shattered.
Sharoni, a longtime flight attendant, was killed just days before her 55th birthday. The tragic event unfolded amid ongoing divorce proceedings between her and her ex-husband, Sythe.
The arrest of Sythe, who works as an eye doctor in Stuart, has left the community grappling with disbelief. “It’s horrible that this happened,” said a local resident, emphasizing the unsettling nature of such violence close to home.
In the course of the investigation, search warrants were executed at both Sythe’s residence and his business. The arrest has brought some relief, but the incident remains a chilling reminder of the potential for violence.
Family members of the victim held a funeral service over the weekend, choosing to remain private during their time of grief. Sythe is currently being held without bond.
This case has left many reflecting on the unexpected dangers that can arise in familiar surroundings, even as they commend the swift action of law enforcement.
