Dallas train shooting leaves one dead and two injured

This past Sunday, tragedy struck the city of Dallas, Texas, when a shooting took place on a northbound Green Line train near Hatcher Station. The incident resulted in one fatality, and left two others injured.

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) assistant vice president, Gordon Shattles, reported the incident and the subsequent recovery of the weapon used in the shooting. The suspect was apprehended by DART police and was charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, although their name has not been disclosed.

The recent Hatcher Station shooting came only one day after another shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets that resulted in eight fatalities, which was followed by police killing the alleged perpetrator.

The shooting quickly prompted questions of safety on public transportation systems in the area. In response, DART has increased its security measures on its trains
