Dad arrested in 2024 killing of mother of three

Deputies say the attack was staged to look like a home invasion at an Orlando apartment.

ORLANDO, FL — Orange County deputies have arrested Saun Landis Rainge Jr., 32, in the January 2024 killing of 30-year-old Porshe Nikita Shanee Streeter, a mother of three who investigators say was shot 10 times while in bed beside her children at an apartment on Woodhill Park Drive.

Authorities say Rainge, the children’s father, orchestrated the shooting and later reported it as a home invasion. Detectives also identified a second suspect, Benjamin Garmon Jr., 26, who was transferred to Orange County custody after a separate federal weapons case. Both men face first-degree murder charges. The case moved forward this week as deputies outlined new details from surveillance video and arrest affidavits, describing a staged crime scene and a dispute over custody and money. No children were physically hurt, officials said.

Deputies were called to the apartment the night of Jan. 13, 2024. They found Streeter unresponsive on the master bedroom floor with multiple gunshot wounds and removed three children — ages 10, 2 and 1 — from the home. Rainge was on the floor with a gunshot wound to his arm and told deputies that an intruder had walked in and shot “him and his lady,” according to arrest records. Investigators said the bedroom door looked as if it had been kicked in. A neighbor said they heard gunfire around 9:30 p.m. Another neighbor recalled Rainge knocking on doors for help later that night. “It’s still a little terrifying,” said Joralna Pierre Louis, who lives nearby.

In affidavits, detectives wrote that Streeter was shot 10 times as she lay in bed with her children. Investigators say surveillance video shows Rainge and Garmon at the complex, and that Garmon ran from the apartment after the gunfire. Detectives believe Garmon shot Rainge in the arm afterward to reinforce the home-invasion story. Friends told investigators the couple’s relationship was “toxic,” with prior domestic abuse; a friend provided photos that deputies say showed injuries days before the killing. Streeter, who ran a small hairdressing business from the apartment, had known Rainge since high school, according to deputies. Officials say they are still assessing certain timelines within the complex but maintain the killing was premeditated.

Public records indicate Garmon had been held out of county on federal weapons charges and pleaded guilty in that case before being booked into the Orange County jail. A criminal defense attorney not connected to the case said the volume of shots and presence of children could elevate aggravating factors in any prosecution. Investigators say the motive included a custody dispute and allegations that Streeter was hiding money from Rainge. Detectives also noted dried blood at the scene, which they said conflicted with Rainge’s claim that he had recently spoken with Streeter after the shooting. The sheriff’s office has not released who currently has custody of the children.

Orange County jail records show Rainge faces a first-degree murder charge. Garmon is charged as a co-defendant in the alleged conspiracy and shooting. Deputies say hours of video, witness statements and forensic evidence will be central at upcoming court hearings. Garmon’s arraignment is set for Jan. 26. Prosecutors have not announced whether they will seek the death penalty; first-degree murder in Florida carries a possible life sentence. Additional filings, including discovery disclosures and motions tied to the home-invasion narrative, are expected in the coming weeks.

Neighbors on Woodhill Park Drive described a quiet complex turned crime scene, with patrol cars and tape holding the courtyard for hours. One resident who called 911 said Rainge was “asking for help and knocking on people’s doors.” A cousin called Streeter a devoted mother who worked at home to stay near her kids. “This is a very serious case,” criminal defense attorney Trey Flynn said in a television interview, noting that a shooting with 10 wounds leaves little room for self-defense claims. Residents said they still worry about late-night noise and visitors at the complex nearly two years later.

As of Sunday, authorities say both defendants remain in custody as the case advances. The sheriff’s office said further updates on hearing dates and filings are expected after Jan. 26.
