RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA – A high-speed police chase unfolded on the 210 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga after a deputy was shot during a burglary investigation at Victoria Gardens mall. The suspect, fleeing on a motorcycle, reached speeds exceeding 150 mph, leading officers on a tense pursuit.
The incident began when law enforcement responded to reports of a robbery at the popular shopping center. During the ensuing confrontation, a deputy was injured in a shooting, prompting a large police presence and a search for the suspect.
As officers secured the area, the suspect managed to escape the condominium complex where the shooting occurred. The motorcycle was spotted traveling at dangerous speeds, weaving through traffic and heading westbound on the 210 Freeway.
Law enforcement, including a helicopter from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, maintained a close watch on the suspect, who appeared to be evading capture at all costs. Ground units were unable to keep pace with the suspect’s high-speed maneuvering.
The chase reached a dramatic conclusion when the motorcycle collided with another vehicle. The suspect was thrown from the bike but survived the crash. Emergency responders, already on the scene, quickly administered first aid.
Authorities confirmed the suspect was the individual involved in the deputy shooting. The freeway was shut down temporarily as paramedics attended to the suspect and police investigated the scene.
The condition of the injured deputy remains unknown, but officials are hopeful for a recovery. The suspect is expected to face multiple charges, including attempted murder and evading arrest.
Traffic on the 210 Freeway was heavily impacted, with lanes closed for several hours as the investigation continued. Commuters were advised to seek alternate routes.
