HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Discovery of skeletal remains occurred in North Harris County, inside a burned vehicle at an auto storage lot near Klein on Tuesday. The district’s Sheriff Ed Gonzalez mentioned this lot is situated off Rhodes Road south of FM 2920 and northwards of Kuykendahl Road.
The vehicle in which the remains were found had reportedly been towed to the location, according to Gonzalez. Investigators working on the case believe the remains may belong to an individual previously reported as missing.
While authorities were on the scene, a distraught family arrived seeking answers. They expressed concern that the remains found inside the burned vehicle could be their missing family member.
The wife of missing person Winsolon Trahan, 44 years old and mother to nine, pleaded with investigators for more information.
The wife reported Trahan missing on September 30 and was able to trace his car’s last known location to an area near signs of a fire. She speculated that it was the same vehicle that was found with the skeletal remains in the impound lot.
An anthropologist and pathologist were brought to the scene after the remains were extracted from the car to collect more concrete evidence.
Investigators caution that the process of identifying the remains through dental records and DNA analysis will be a lengthy one.
