SAN JOSE, CA – A boxing instructor from San Jose faces serious legal troubles after being accused of multiple felonies, including sexual assault and extortion. Tristan Arfi, 42, who operates Yrb Fitness in downtown San Jose, is at the center of these allegations, which have shocked the local community.
According to the district attorney’s office, Arfi allegedly lured two female clients under the guise of offering complimentary massages. Once isolated, he reportedly engaged in inappropriate and unwanted touching, both over and under their clothing. One of the women was allegedly restrained during the encounter, escalating the severity of the charges against him.
In addition to these accusations, Arfi is also charged with attempted extortion. Investigators claim he withheld wages from a female employee, demanding nude photographs in exchange for her paycheck. This allegation paints a troubling picture of abuse of power within his establishment.
The case has stirred emotions among those who know Arfi. When approached outside his gym, Arfi appeared visibly upset and denied any wrongdoing, stating, “What do you want me to say? I didn’t do anything.” He refrained from further comment and quickly left the scene.
Support for Arfi comes from some quarters, with a current employee expressing disbelief over the accusations. Speaking anonymously, she vouched for his character, stating, “I know him, he’s a good person. I’ve worked for him for a year now, and I know for sure that that’s not his personality.”

However, the district attorney’s office has revealed that Arfi is not a stranger to the law. In 2019, he was convicted of lewd acts with a minor at a boxing gym in Menlo Park, adding a layer of complexity to the current case. Arfi is scheduled for arraignment on December 23, where he will face five felony counts of sexual battery and two felony counts of attempted extortion.
