Body of missing college student found in trunk of towed car

EDENTON, NC – A North Carolina resident, Jordan Isaiah Thomas, is under arrest, facing serious charges of murder following the gruesome discovery of a woman’s body in his vehicle’s trunk. The car was parked in a private lot and was towed, leading to the shocking find by a tow truck employee.

The vehicle, traced back to Thomas, was found in Beaufort County on January 17, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI). The victim is believed to be a 19-year-old studying at Elizabeth City State University. The medical examiner’s office is yet to release an official identification and cause of death.

Thomas’s vehicle was discovered in a private company’s parking lot on U.S. Highway 264, Washington, North Carolina. Following the grim discovery, detectives pieced together that Thomas had left his car in the lot before stealing a truck from the same location.

The stolen truck was later found at a hospital in Washington, North Carolina, where Thomas was apprehended. Investigators are of the view that the crime scene was likely elsewhere, possibly Thomas’s residence in Edenton. The exact location of the crime is still being determined.

The NCSBI has confirmed that Thomas and the victim were known to each other. Thomas is now facing charges including murder, vehicle theft, and concealing a death.

Investigations are ongoing.
