Body found in freezer may have been there for nine years

SAN DIEGO, CA – A discovery of a chilling nature was made in San Diego last month when the body of an 81-year-old woman was found inside a chest freezer at her own residence. The woman, Mary Margaret Haxby-Jones, had been living at the house. Authorities are treating the case as a suspicious death, and no arrests have been made at this time.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Haxby-Jones could have been missing or deceased for a period of up to nine years. The gruesome discovery was made by visiting family members on December 22, at the Allied Gardens area home.

The unusual circumstances of the body’s location have prompted a homicide investigation by the San Diego Police Department. The Medical Examiner’s Office is still in the process of determining the exact cause of death.

While the body bore no clear signs of traumatic injury, the case remains shrouded in mystery. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.
