Block party shooting leaves one dead, teen also injured

Law enforcement in Arkansas are diligently investigating an early-morning shooting in Stamps, Arkansas. The shooting resulted in the tragic death of an 18-year-old and serious injuries to a 16-year-old.

Promptly at 1:24 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received urgent alerts about a gunfire eruption at a block party on 2nd Street in Stamps. Stamps Police Department officers were swiftly dispatched to the scene, where they learned that two victims of the gunfire had been privately conveyed to the Magnolia Regional Medical Center.

The police identified the deceased victim as 18-year-old Jaquarious D. Easter from Waldo, who was declared dead upon arrival. The other victim was a 16-year-old from East Camden who is being treated for his injuries.

In order to determine the circumstances of Easter’s untimely death, a formal postmortem will be conducted on his body.
