Bar shooting leaves 1 dead, 5 injured

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A Saturday morning shooting in an Indianapolis bar has left one person dead and five others injured. The incident occurred just after 1 a.m. on Broad Ripple Avenue, where bar-goers were caught in the crossfire. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers in the vicinity heard gunfire and rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers found five male victims with apparent gunshot wounds, as stated in an early Saturday IMPD statement. The officers provided first aid until Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services arrived to transport the victims to local hospitals. Tragically, one of the victims was pronounced dead shortly after reaching the hospital.

Another man, who had also sustained gunshot wounds in the same altercation, was able to transport himself to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to police.

Specialized homicide and aggravated assault detectives, along with the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency, were dispatched to the scene to initiate the investigation and gather potential forensic evidence.

Details regarding the condition of the other five victims remain uncertain as the Marion County Coroner’s Office works to determine the exact cause and manner of death for the deceased victim. The identity of the deceased has yet to be disclosed, pending notification of next of kin.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and investigation efforts are ongoing. IMPD has urged anyone with information about the incident to reach out to the Homicide Office or to Central Indiana’s Crime Stoppers to report anonymous tips.
