Atlanta offering $50k reward after triple shooting kills young teens

ATLANTA, GA – Atlanta authorities are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in connection with a tragic triple shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning, resulting in the deaths of two 13-year-old boys and leaving an 11-year-old boy hospitalized.

Lamon Freeman, who was to celebrate his 14th birthday on the same day, and Ja’Kody Davis, 13, were fatally wounded in the Oakland City neighborhood. The younger boy injured in the incident is Ja’Kody’s brother, Dontavious Davis, who is currently in stable condition at a local hospital, according to Atlanta police.

The incident took place at an apartment complex on Sparks Street SW around 12:36 a.m., where officers responded to reports of juveniles being shot. Upon arrival, they discovered three young boys suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the 13-year-olds was pronounced dead at the scene by Grady EMS, while the other succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital.

Lt. Andrew Smith, Commander of the Homicide Unit, informed reporters that the shooting occurred in a stairwell outside individual residences, not inside an apartment. The police have yet to determine a motive for the shooting and have not released further details about what led up to the tragic event.

Currently, no suspects are in custody. The $50,000 reward is being offered by Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta and the Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide Unit for any information that could lead to an arrest. Tips can be directed to Atlanta detectives at 404-546-4235 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.

The community is urged to come forward with any information that might help solve this case and bring justice to the grieving families.
