At least 8 police vehicles were torched with explosives planted under them

BROOKLYN, NY – A tense investigation is underway in Brooklyn after a dramatic overnight incident where eight police vehicles were set ablaze in the Bushwick neighborhood. Law enforcement officials are actively searching for two individuals who were observed fleeing the scene, sparking concerns among residents and authorities alike.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in a police parking lot located at the intersection of College Avenue and Central Avenue. The aftermath revealed several undetonated explosive devices, which authorities believe were left behind by the suspects. These devices, resembling M-80 firecrackers, were found atop one of the charred police cars, heightening the urgency of the investigation.

The New York Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit, along with investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), are meticulously examining the site. Surveillance footage is being reviewed to identify the two suspects, described as wearing all-black clothing and masks, who are believed to have deliberately set the fire.

The blaze illuminated the early morning sky, causing significant damage to six marked police vehicles and two unmarked cars, along with shattering the windows of several others. The parking lot, situated just blocks from the 83rd Precinct, is typically used by officers stationed there.

Local residents expressed their alarm over the incident. “It’s very unsettling,” said one resident. “No one wants to live on a street where such dangerous acts occur.” The sounds of explosions and shouts of “fire” echoed through the neighborhood, leaving many on edge.

Despite the extensive damage, there were no reported injuries. However, the community remains on high alert as police officers have increased their presence in the area, parking cruisers outside the lot as a precautionary measure.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspects to come forward.
