Arrests made in kidnapping and murder case

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Authorities have made a second arrest in connection with the August kidnapping and murder of a 44-year-old man, intensifying the investigation into this chilling case. Marcos Villegas, 21, was apprehended yesterday for his alleged role in the death of Antonio Sanchez, according to local law enforcement.

Police reports indicate that Sanchez was lured to a residence where he met a fatal end. The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) revealed that Villegas is now facing two kidnapping charges, as he allegedly orchestrated a plot involving multiple hostages to ensnare Sanchez.

Court documents detail a harrowing scene on August 11, when two individuals were reportedly held captive at a home on the city’s west side. Coincidentally, officers in the vicinity were conducting a traffic stop when the sound of gunfire drew them to Coronado Avenue and Ceralvo Street. There, they discovered Sanchez lifeless on the street.

Investigators allege that Villegas wielded a firearm to detain the hostages, using one victim’s phone to deceive Sanchez into coming to the location. Although Villegas reportedly exited the premises before the murder occurred, his involvement remains under scrutiny.

Another suspect, Rafael Ricardo Jesus Almendarez, stands accused of pulling the trigger, resulting in Sanchez’s death. Almendarez is currently facing a capital murder charge as authorities piece together the events leading up to the crime.

A key break in the case came when investigators linked a vehicle spotted at the crime scene to Villegas. Subsequent search warrants uncovered social media evidence that corroborated the suspect’s identity and appearance.

Both Villegas and Almendarez are currently detained in the Bexar County Jail as the investigation continues. The community remains on edge as authorities work to unravel the full scope of the incident.
