Alleged Chicago gang-bangers charged in triple murder that took place in Los Angeles

Three men from Chicago are the suspects in a tragic shooting that killed three unsuspecting women in the city of Los Angeles. On January 28th, the women had traveled from Chicago to the Beverly Crest neighborhood to watch a popular rap artist perform and to have a fun weekend trip. However, their lives were tragically cut short when the three men allegedly opened fire in a “cold and callous” ambush-style attack.

Los Angeles Police Department Captain Jonathan Tippet had this to say at a press conference after their arrests: “Since the crime occurred, our detectives have worked hard to bring these criminals to justice. This kind of callous violence has left the victims’ family in shock and devastated.” The victims were Identified as Iyana Hutton, 33, Nenah Davis, 29 and Destiny Sims, 26, all of which were from the Chicago area.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney also issued a statement saying, “this was a careless and senseless act that must be stopped and prevented in the future.” Dejean Thompkins, 28, and Dontae Williams, 22, were arrested in Chicago and Daries Stanford, 28, was apprehended in New York. Each faces multiple charges of murder and attempted murder. Thompkins, who was linked to yet another earlier homicide case, also has murder charges for the murder of Julian Bynum, 30, in December of 2022.

The DA’s office has also approved an enhancement filing, which could significantly increase the sentences for all if found guilty.

LA County DA’s Chief of Staff Joseph Iniguez added further at the press conference: “Due to these extraordinary circumstances and the incredible loss of life, we have decided to file special circumstance allegations and gun enhancements in this case.”

The senseless shooting in LA has resulted in the arrest of three gang-affiliated suspects from Chicago. With the number of mass shootings on the rise, authorities have concluded that more must be done to protect our communities, whether through legislation or education.
