OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A 35-year-old man was arrested on Christmas Day in connection with a kidnapping and robbery that occurred in Haltom City, Texas. According to police, the suspect, identified as Eduardo Javier Ordonez Godoy, allegedly kidnapped a 22-year-old woman at gunpoint on Christmas Eve.
The ordeal began when the woman was leaving her apartment for work. An armed man wearing a mask reportedly forced her into the back seat of her own vehicle. The suspect made her withdraw $400 from an ATM before driving around for about an hour. The harrowing journey ended when the suspect tied the victim to a tree in Grapevine using her shoelace and then drove off in her car.
On Christmas Day, Oklahoma City police discovered the stolen vehicle with Godoy inside, asleep in a parking lot. Godoy, originally from Honduras, was taken into custody without incident. Authorities noted that he admitted to the crimes, claiming a need for money.
Investigators revealed that Godoy exhibited a bizarre demeanor during questioning, often smirking and appearing almost proud of his actions. This behavior has raised concerns among law enforcement, who are familiar with his criminal history. Godoy is believed to have committed similar offenses in different states and has been previously arrested and deported to Honduras.
The victim, who was left terrified by her experience, managed to contact police shortly after the suspect fled. Her detailed description of the assailant and her vehicle was crucial in the swift apprehension of Godoy. Haltom City police had shared this information through a national database, leading to the quick identification of the suspect.
Godoy’s criminal record includes previous arrests for similar crimes, and authorities are now questioning how he re-entered the United States after being deported. He has been charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated kidnapping and robbery, and is currently held at the Oklahoma City Jail.
The case has sparked discussions on the need for stricter measures to prevent repeat offenders from returning to the country. Authorities hope that Godoy will face significant jail time to prevent further offenses.
