Four men were shot in a drive-by shooting near the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel Thursday night. The suspects were following the victims from a previous location, and fired at their car when they got out of their car.

Detroit police believe two groups were fighting earlier in the night, and the suspect vehicle was waiting across the street for the victims to arrive at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel.

Police had a strong presence in the area and transported at least three victims to the hospital after they were shot. They also applied tourniquets to the victims and likely saved at least one of their lives.

All of the men that were shot were between the ages of 18-30. Authorities determined that the shooting has no connection to the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel or its guests.

Detroit police show two angles from camera video the SUV of the would-be victims pulling up to the hotel and then someone inside opens fire victims run from inside to look for cover several of the men can be seen holding what look like gunshot wounds.

The video shows the victims’ vehicle pull up outside of the hotel, then chaos ensues as a suspect vehicle drives by quickly and someone or multiple people inside open fire. The people in the first vehicle get out and begin to flee the scene.

The four men who were injured are in critical condition, the other two are in stable condition, and the chief expects the security cameras to provide more information about the shooter.

As investigators cleared the scene, three weapons were recovered from the victim’s vehicle. Police have not confirmed if there was a fifth person in the SUV when shots were fired, but two victims are expected to survive.
