16-year-old girl rescued from human trafficking

HOUSTON, TX – Authorities in Houston are investigating a case of human trafficking involving a teenage girl, who is now recovering following her rescue. Law enforcement officials have charged 22-year-old Kaylyn Redding with the promotion of prostitution involving a juvenile.

Redding appeared in court on Saturday, where a judge examined the evidence and set her bond at $50,000. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared that the teenager was successfully located and saved from her trafficking situation.

During court proceedings, the teenager testified that she had been coerced into prostitution, being forced to engage in sexual acts with men for money. According to court records, Redding is accused of running sex ads that featured both her and the teen’s faces, along with Redding’s phone number as the contact.

The judge, conveying the seriousness of the charges, highlighted that three online ads were connected to both the defendant and the teen, which further fueled the decision to impose a substantial bond.

In setting the bond, the judge stated it was necessary to ensure the safety of the victim and the wider community. Redding faces strict bond conditions, which include surrendering her passport, abstaining from drugs and alcohol, avoiding weapons, and maintaining no contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 17.

Redding’s legal journey continues as her next court appearance is scheduled for the upcoming Monday.
